I’ve talked about the amazingly quick progression you can see when surfing river waves. This year that came in the flavor of a dizzying number 360s at Glenwood Springs. Just a year ago, the only people we saw doing spins on the wave were professional paddlers like Mike Tavares, Miles Harvey and Zack Hughes.

This year the rest of us stepped up our game! I dialed both frontside and backside 360s. Matt Ross started sticking backside spins with his eyes closed. Erin Livingston stuck her first frontside 3 followed quickly by Claire Chappell.

The combination of a consistent wave and all of us pushing each other to improve paid off big time. Here’s a little video showing the start of this year’s progression.
